This was a reread for me, but honestly, I remembered maybe half of what happened the first time around. I don’t know if that says more about my chaotic 2024 or about my original reading experience, because it was a total blur. Coming back to it, though, felt like slipping into a story I vaguely knew but could finally appreciate properly.

This book picks up the ongoing story of Selene/Roxilana and Memnon, following them as they find their way back to each other. Selene has finally pieced together and restored her memories, and Memnon has uncovered the truth that’s been kept from him, so there’s this really satisfying sense of emotional payoff as they reconnect. Their relationship feels deeper and more intense this time, because now they’re facing everything with open eyes instead of half-truths and confusion.

On top of the romance, there’s a ton of intrigue woven through the plot. The two of them are constantly battling forced bonds, dodging murder plots, and dealing with demons—both the literal kind and the emotional ones. The stakes feel higher, the danger feels sharper, and it all keeps the story moving at a fast, addictive pace.

I’m absolutely loving where their arc is going, and this installment just made me even more invested in them as a couple. It has that perfect mix of drama, danger, and swoony moments that makes it really hard to put down. I’m honestly so excited to see how everything wraps up in the final book, and I’m really hoping the conclusion lives up to how strong this part of the journey was.
