I was completely captivated by Sarah Beth Durst’s exquisite writing and her enchanting book, The Spellshop. It was an awe-inspiring journey that left me breathless. Her words crafted stunning imagery that came alive before my very eyes. The landscapes, the vibrant characters, the mesmerizing array of magical beings—they all whisked me away to a wondrous realm of pure imagination with each turn of the page. It’s a delightful and whimsical tale that fills the heart with a radiant warmth and uncontainable joy. I am bursting with excitement to dive into the next installment of this enchanting series!
OMG Brynne Weaver!! I am utterly captivated by this masterpiece you’ve crafted—definitely my favorite of your works! If there were a way to give it more than 5 Stars, I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment. The storyline ensnared my heart from the very first page! The tumultuous relationship that blossoms between Harper and Nolan is the epitome of enemies to lovers, and that plot twist—my goodness, it took my breath away! I relish a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat, and this one surely does. I read Love & Others Killers beforehand, and it all clicked into place. Meeting Harper first in the Ruinous Love Trilogy and again in Love & Other Killers felt like a delightful refresher! While you don’t absolutely need to read them first, I highly recommend experiencing them before diving into Tourist Season. And here’s a heads up: this isn’t like the Ruinous Love Trilogy, where the books are interwoven; each story focuses on a distinct couple! The Season of Carnage Trilogy stands apart, so if you crave resolution, you might want to hold off until all the installments are available, as it leaves you with a heart-stopping cliffhanger. But if you can handle that exhilarating tension, rush to add this gem to your TBR immediately!
I absolutely adore Brynne Weaver, and my excitement for this book was undeniably high! I eagerly dove in, anticipating the journey to Tourist Season, only to find that Love & Other Killers was recommended first. Let’s set the stage: this book is more of a delightful novella, a brief tale that whisked me away in under an hour. It intertwines with the characters from her previous trilogy, Ruinous Love. In hindsight, I could have bypassed this book entirely and remained perfectly fine, perhaps even saving some money in the process. I haven’t delved into Tourist Season yet, so I’m on the edge of my seat wondering if there’s something essential in this book that I may have missed. For those yearning for a reunion with the characters, this serves as a swift check-in filled with delightful banter, though I didn’t discover anything new about them. I’m not disparaging the book; it’s still worth reading for yourself. I was just a tad disappointed, as I know Brynne Weaver has so much more brilliance to offer!
I know I mentioned that I was going to embark on another book adventure next, but I couldn’t resist the magical pull to switch things up and return it to my TBR. It felt like the universe was calling for a witchy tale instead, and so I eagerly dove into A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna. Having been absolutely enchanted by her previous work, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, my curiosity was piqued to see if this new tale would cast its spell on me as well. And oh, how it did! While the narrative weaves through spells and sorcery, at its core lies an utterly delightful story of found family, genuine acceptance, and unconditional love. It’s such a heartwarming read, precisely what my soul needed!
I have been eagerly counting down the days until the release of Mate, ever since I fell in love with Serena and Koen in Bride. Ali Hazelwood, you have truly outdone yourself! I devoured this book in one sitting. My only complaint? It was far too short; I yearned for more! These characters and their incredible story are still swirling in my thoughts. The playful banter and undeniable yearning are simply magical… oh my goodness. Koen is the ultimate book boyfriend! I have never cheered for a couple as fervently as I cheered for them. If you crave a book bursting with excitement, tension, laughter, and passion, then dash—don’t stroll—to grab a copy of this incredible read!
The Love Hypothesis is an exhilarating rom-com that captivates your heart, and as always, Ali Hazelwood masterfully crafts a light and entertaining narrative. I found myself fiercely rooting for Olive and Adam, completely invested in their journey before the final page was turned. Set against the backdrop of academia, this story dives into the enchanting world of fake dating between a grad student and a professor. As is often the case, chaos ensues when feigned feelings ignite into something genuine. Can they untangle the web of truth from the enticing lies? It’s an absolute delight! The witty banter among the side characters leads to uproarious moments, making it such a joyful read. Don’t just take my word for it—dive in and experience the magic for yourself!
Oh Marion Blackwood, how you’ve turned my world upside down! It’s not entirely your fault, though. My own lack of research led me astray when I eagerly picked up this book. Imagine my surprise when I thought the fourth installment releasing this month was the grand finale! Instead, I’m left in suspense, knowing there’s an incomplete saga with the fifth book tantalizingly set to release next year. I can manage that cliffhanger, but what absolutely breaks my heart is discovering that only the first book is available in audio. It feels so cruel! I need to listen and read simultaneously due to my CVA, meaning I often find myself double buying these literary gems—what can I say, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do! I’ve reached out to the author about whether future books will be available on audio as well, but alas, silence reigns. The thought of not finishing this captivating series is utterly unbearable, especially since it has definitively pulled me out of my blistering fantasy reading slump! The writing is exquisite, and I was completely ensnared by the characters. Picture this: The Hunger Games infused with Fae and Dragon Shifters! The narrative unfolds during a time when Dragon Shifters dominate, relegating the Fae to a town where their existence is strictly governed by the Iceheart Dynasty (Dragon Clan), dictating their labor and sustenance. Every 150 years, the Atonement Trials are held—an exhilarating series of competitions to identify the strongest Fae. The triumphant trio earn their freedom, having redeemed the sins of their ancestors. Our fierce heroine, Dakota, must fight tooth and nail against her fellow Fae to secure her place among the winners while grappling with her intense feelings for Draven, a relentless Dragon Shifter determined to see her fail. It’s a tale drenched in adventure, yearning, forbidden love, and an agonizing cliffhanger that will leave you breathless!
Another extraordinary masterpiece by Amy Daws!! Her books transcend the typical rom-com, delving deep into the hearts of truly relatable characters. In Seven Year Itch and Nine Month Contract, we meet plus-size women who are so beautifully complex. I adore how each character, despite feeling a tad shy about their bodies, radiates an empowering confidence and undeniable allure, especially in this thrilling narrative. Dakota courageously ends a marriage with a man who cruelly judges her weight, blaming it for his dwindling interest in their intimacy—a staggering display of body shaming. Yet, triumphantly, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, rediscovering her confidence alongside a man who cherishes her for exactly who she is, reigniting her sense of sexy and self-worth. I was utterly captivated by the story and the powerful message it imparts! Being sexy isn’t confined to a specific size. It’s such an uplifting theme woven through a tale rich with delightful humor. This book is an absolute must-read!
I have found myself in a frustrating reading slump lately, leaving me utterly perplexed. In my quest for a solution, I decided to dive into a genre that doesn’t require intense brainpower. Let me be clear, I hold the romance genre in high regard; it simply flows with a beautiful ease that differs from the complexities of mysteries or fantasy. This time, I ventured into the enchanting realm crafted by a new author for me, Amy Daws, and her mesmerizing book, Nine Month Contract. What an exhilarating journey it turned out to be! Sure, it may have had its predictability, but aren’t most romance novels beautifully rooted in that comforting rhythm? It delivered an uplifting experience, brimming with delightful banter that ignited happiness within me. The yearning and slow-burning romance swept me off my feet. The profound development of both the main characters and the intriguing side characters ignited a longing for more, teasing the promise of captivating stories yet to be told. Amy Daws may have just pulled me out of my slump!
Have you ever experienced that tumultuous love-hate relationship with a book? That’s exactly how I feel about The Dead Men Walking Duet. I was shocked that it didn’t receive more buzz; it’s set in the same universe as the Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep, a series I adore! Yet, I sense that those who’ve read it may be hesitant to recommend it—or perhaps they share my conflicting emotions. The other works I’ve devoured by the Twisted Sisters, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, revolved around relationships marred by bullying and explored polyamorous dynamics, showcasing characters who were beautifully broken, allowing us to witness their growth. But in this duet, the characters are, for lack of a better term, utterly insane! They are crazed, psychotic killers, yet somehow, you find yourself drawn to them, even able to unravel the main character’s frenzied ramblings. Still, there were countless moments when I wanted to throw in the towel and DNF the whole thing! It took me ages to slog through because I just couldn’t fully immerse myself, often finding myself setting it aside. Yet, the thought of abandoning a book—especially one penned by Peckham and Valenti—was unbearable, so I dug deep and pushed through. Ultimately, the narrative does gain momentum toward the end of the second book, which is why I awarded it the rating I did. But my review? Well, I’m still wrestling with my thoughts on it. All I can confidently say is to give it a shot! You might find yourself enamored, or like me, left in a delightful daze of confusion. Haha!
