I wanted to love this series, but by the fourth book, I simply couldn’t. This is reflected in how long it took me to finish it, as I found myself dragging through each chapter and losing interest more with each turn of the page. There was nothing memorable that stood out; no gripping moments or characters that truly resonated with me, so it won’t linger in my thoughts for long after closing the final book. So, why the 4-star rating? It wasn’t quite a 3 either, which is why I rounded up, recognizing the effort and potential within the story that, unfortunately, never fully materialized. The writing was excellent, with clever prose that flowed effortlessly from one scene to the next; however, I craved more conflict and yearning. The stakes felt low throughout the series, and the emotional depth that I hoped for was largely absent. It felt too tidy, lacking the raw edges that often make great stories memorable and impactful.
